Quick notes about everything that's going on I've been rejected from two graduate schools so far, and if I get an offer from UW, I think that I'll reject it. I met with faculty from the program, and they were insulting and ridiculous. Two choice questions from the interview: "So, how much theatre have you seen? Have you ever seen anything in New York? San Francisco? Anything like that?" "At one point in your application, you say, 'I am a dramaturg.' Is that something that you think you should feel guilty about?" You can see from this, I hope, what kind of people I was dealing with. Empty Space remains open, so I'm still doing work there. This is a good thing. I did not get hired for a job as a manager with the company I work for now. Lots of restructuring going on. I may get hired as an assistant manager in the next two weeks, or so. In the meantime, I've been writing articles on the pet foods that we carry for our semi-annual flyer. I'm getting paid $25 a piece. Considering that I haven't spent more than an hour on any one of them, and that the average time is less than half an hour, this is not a bad rate of pay. And I'll have written about 40 of them over the course of four weeks. So. Woo! In related career news, I've found about three jobs in the past two days that I want to apply for. Two are in Washington (one's in Seattle, one in Yakima). The other is in Arizona. I don't really want to go to Arizona, but it's a teaching job for a *dramaturg*. This is a fairly rare occurance. Dramaturgs can get teaching jobs, usually under the rubric of general theatre academics. But this is a *dramaturg-specific* posting. That's about it for now. Just general news, for those that read this...if anyone. Gotta be up early... fin.
